Ocelot File Manager: user guide
Ocelot File Manager is a file manager for macOS 14.4 and later. This guide says what the app does and explains the behaviour that is not obvious from the window itself. The shortcut page is generated from the app's own menu table, so it is always current.
| Page | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Getting started | First launch, access to your folders, the parts of the window, Settings, opening folders from other apps and from Terminal. |
| Browsing | The sidebar, tabs, the path bar, views and columns, folder sizes, two panels. |
| Working with files | Copy, move, drag, name clashes, undo, rename, new documents, the Trash, aliases, tags, icons, Open With. |
| Permissions | Sharing & Permissions, access control lists, the "Custom" entry. |
| Search | Name and content search, filters, grouping, searching inside archives. |
| Archives | Archives opened as folders, extraction, passwords, Compress. |
| Network and servers | Nearby computers and their shares, Connect to Server, WebDAV and S3 servers. |
| Share Screen | Opening the system's Screen Sharing from the Network list. |
| Keyboard shortcuts | Every shortcut, generated from the menus. |
| Troubleshooting | Access prompts, Full Disk Access, slow servers, a folder you may write to but cannot, where the app keeps its data. |
Plugins have a guide of their own: the plugin guide.
Some features belong to the Pro edition and are marked "Pro" where they come up: two panels per tab, Compare with Other Pane, the Shelf, editing access control lists, Find Duplicates and Sync Folders. Everything else, the network clients included, is in every edition.
